The technologies called “grid”, or Grid Computing, allow to securely share data and programs for multiple computers, whether office-based, personal or supercomputers. A network is created for these resources and shared by means of dedicated software solutions.
They can thus generate, at a given time, a virtual system endowed with an immense computational power and a related storage capacity to carry out scientific and technical projects requiring a large amount of processing cycles or access to large volumes of data.
